The Steung Siemreap Hotel is rebuilt – a new building, in the French Quarter; Psah Chas (Old Market) retaining her true colonial French characteristics, wooden louvre french-windows, doors and wooden floors complete with wrought iron balconies. The interiors whilst youthfully modern, bright airy and cheerful retain some semblance of her 1930’s art-decor characteristics with a hint Khmer flavour. Steung Siemreap re-opens July 22nd 2005. The original Steung Siemreap Hotel – a fine old and elegant hotel, was established in the early 1920’s soon after construction of the Wat Preah Prom Rath Temple. We are given to understand the architects and engineers who were building the Grand Hotel d’Ángkor occasionally stayed at the Steung Siemreap Hotel.
Location:Steung Siemreap is ideally situated in the heart of the Old French Quarter on the Old Market’s edge; currently the focus of the old town in the midst of all the modern restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. The building(s) retain some French characteristics; floor to ceiling wooden louver French-windows, doors and wooden floors complete with wrought iron balcony railings. The interiors whilst youthfully modern, bright airy and cheerful retain some semblance of her 1920’s art-deco characteristics with a hint of Khmer flavour.The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of town just 15 minutes drive from Siem Reap International Airport and an amazing Angkor temple. More importantly, hotel’s location is one minute walk to Phsar Chas (Old Market) and Siem Reap River and two minutes’ walk to Pub Street.
Accommodation: Steung Siemreap is rebuilt. The original building had 33 guest rooms and a small restaurant serving exceptional French farmer’s home cooking; thick gravy and potatoes. The new building has 36 guest rooms including a 2 bedroom suite, a single bedroom suite and a studio suite together with a restaurant, bar, business center and souvenir shop. A further new building with 34 bigger guest rooms and swimming pool has been constructed immediately opposite, adjacent to the Temple complex on the River.The 36 beautifully decorated rooms with 3 choices of room types comprising of superior, deluxe and suite rooms with predominantly local made furnishing. With modern hotel facilities and services, Steung Siemreap Hotel extended our Khmer hospitality to make your stay in Siem Reap enjoyable and memorable.
The Dining Room
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner the dining room serves Oriental and Mediterranean cuisine - organic produce, fresh clean tastes. The Dining Room is spacious, light airy and catches both, the morning and evening light. Flexible table settings allow for a variable number of guests.
The Bar
Without being either funky or snazzy in an MTV manner, the bar is refreshingly young at heart and an integral part of the restaurant and character - youthfully modern, bright airy and cheerful, of the hotel.
